IMPACT Bystander Training

Too often abuse goes unchallenged because people don’t feel safe speaking up. IMPACT programs help people increase their ability to safely advocate for themselves and others. IMPACT’s prevention programs emphasize giving people the tools to manage their adrenaline or stress responses so they can intervene effectively when they observe risky situations.

Do you want people to speak up and intervene when they see an opportunity to prevent sexual violence, harassment, or hate speech?

At IMPACT we make sure they can do it safely.

At IMPACT, we believe that keeping ourselves safe and advocating for others go hand in hand. We are committed to giving community groups and individuals the tools to safely intervene when someone else is at risk. This means having the skills to protect your own safety and manage your own stress response in the moment of violence or harassment.

Bystander Skills:

  • Identifying situations that require challenging conversations

  • Addressing defensive and dismissive responses to challenging conversations

  • Communicating confidence with body language

  • Managing adrenaline and de-escalation
