New Exhibition Room, recently selected for the Emerging Theatre Company Program at the Boston Center for the Arts, announces their 2011 fundraiser Zombie Survival Training at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre on July 2nd. The event will feature a reception and a workshop performance of their 2012 zombie double feature. Led by Artistic Directors A. Nora Long and Dawn Meredith Simmons, New Exhibition Room specializes in ensemble-driven new works and this will be the first opportunity to preview their 2012 production
Save yourself and your loved ones by attending Zombie Survival Training, on July 2, 2011 at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. Get your survival kit, brave the zombie kissing booth, and see a sneak peak our NXR's apocalyptic Zombie Double Feature Project. If you manage to survive training you can join us for the after-party at a top secret location TBD, but super close by!
While we can’t say that if you attend Zombie Survival Training on July 2nd you will survive an apocalyptic event in 2012, we will say that your chances of falling victim to a massive horde of zombies will be greatly reduced.

New Exhibition Room’s workshop will include some of the area’s best actors in a variety of roles. Featuring: Adam Kassim, Greer Rooney, Eric Propp (FX), Stephanie Friedman, Joe Marrella, Terrence Haddad, Ed Hoopman (Consultant), Lyndsay Allen Cox, Hannah Husband (Fight Design), Alejandro Simoes (Director), Robin Allen LaPlante (Events), A. Nora Long (Director), Dawn M. Simmons (Director).
Event will take place at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, located at 949 Commonwealth Avenue on July 2nd at 7:00pm. Tickets are available online at www.newexhibitionroom.org and at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/182406 and are $15 for a reception and performance tickets, or $20 for ticket to reception and performance, plus a zombie survival kit. Tickets are also available at the door for $20/$25, respectively.
About New Exhibition Room
In 1792, a group of Bostonians flouted state law and traditional rhetoric by building a theatre. The New Exhibition Room packed houses for several months before being closed by the authorities. The public outcry that ensued eventually caused the repeal of the state's theatrical bans. Some years later, another group of Bostonians have come together to resurrect New Exhibition Room to build new work, engage local artists and once again get people riled up about theatre.
Co-Artistic Directors A. Nora Long and Dawn Simmons started New Exhibition Room together in 2007, with its first full-length production premiering in 2009. The company has performed in Boston and Cambridge, and toured its original production of “Shh!” to the New York Fringe Festival in 2010. Its most recent production, “Story Time Preservation Hour” was performed at the Boston Playwrights’ Theatre.
