This event is produced by a committee dedicated to supporting, promoting, and raising the profile of Greater Boston’s vibrant and gifted theater community. The committee was originally formed to help plan the Theater Communications Group 2012 Conference, held in Boston. The committee includes leaders from StageSource, ArtsBoston, and a diverse group of theater organizations.

"From the award-winning work on the stages of our flagship companies to the remarkable and innovative pieces by Greater Boston's adventurous small theater scene, the range of work being done in our region is among the most impressive in the country," says David Colfer, General Manager of Emerson Stage, the producing arm of the Department of Performing Arts at Emerson College. "By bringing so many theater companies together under one roof at the Greater Boston Theater Expo, organizations will connect with new supporters, and audiences will have the chance to explore this rich marketplace in a format that is convenient, efficient, and free."

"It is an exciting time for the New England theater community, but some of that excitement is a well kept secret to a lot of people. One of the many things I love about the Greater Boston Theater Expo is that dozens of companies come in, set up their tables, and spend three hours celebrating with the public. It's the science fair of arts events, and a lot of fun," says StageSource Executive Director Julie Hennrikus.

"On a typical Friday night during the theater season, Greater Boston theater audiences have a choice of nearly 40 different theatrical productions from Portsmouth to Providence,” observes Michael Maso, Huntington Theatre Company Managing Director. "But because of our geographic disparity, it can be easy to overlook our scope, scale, and economic impact on the region. The convergence of more than 50 organizations at the Greater Boston Theater Expo will be a reminder of the theater community’s breadth, variety, and vitality.”
