HERRING RUN THEATER ARTFEST Call to WRITERS + DIRECTORS
The Herring Run ArtsFest is a free to the public festival of arts such as theater, film and music. The ArtFest was formed to vitalize the regional creative community, and to foster new relationships among artists. We cultivate fresh voices, and innovative ideas. We especially encourage those residing in the Northeast USA to submit.
Each September, Herring Run Theater ArtsFest presents its celebration of one-act plays. The theater program is the largest branch of the festival. The theater program runs Friday and Saturday, presenting the winning 6 one-act plays each evening. We hire approximately 8-12 directors. Participants are unpaid, however, there is much opportunity for making contacts and exposure.
Directors will begin their pre-production by late spring (march/ april). Directors may have previous directing experience, but it is not necessary. However, your resume must show creative potential.
Writers, each play submitted must be original (not more than two plays, please), and not previously performed. 12 one-act plays no more than 12 pages in length for 2006 will be chosen.

The ENVISION Retreat
July 16-30, 2006 Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York
Voice & Vision is looking for projects initiated by women theater artists including performers, directors, writers, designers and groups of collaborators.
Voice & Vision Theater's annual summer retreat offers selected participants an artist-centered workshop environment where they can develop projects with women at the core. Voice & Vision provides ample rehearsal space on the Bard College campus, dramaturgical support, round-trip transportation from New York City, housing, a daily stipend and most meals. The ENVISION retreat affords each artist a highly focused workspace and opportunities to informally present their works-in-progress.
Projects will be chosen to reflect a broad range of aesthetic and cultural perspectives. Past Retreat participants include Ruth Maleczech and Mabou Mines, Kia Corthron, Estelle Parsons, Olympia Dukakis, Yeardley Smith, Lola Pashalinski, Lynn Nottage, Chiori Miyagawa, Caridad Svich, Kristen Marting, Karen Hartman, Jennifer Miller and Theodora Skipitares.
Submission Guidelines: Please send TWO COPIES OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. Your script, if available (if not, excerpts are acceptable, or a writing sample with selected scenes or an outline); 2. A one-page description of your project and its current stage of development (we do consider projects at very early stages of development as well as projects much farther along), including a statement of your particular goals for the two-week ENVISION Retreat; 3. The names and number of established collaborators you would like to bring to the Retreat, as well as the number of actors or other collaborators we would help you to find (we do not expect or require that you already have your creative team together, we just need to know if you do); 4. Resumes of established collaborators whom you would like to bring to the Retreat; 5. Any special equipment, practical or technical needs; and 6. Names and phone numbers of three professional references. 7. Please include ONE $15 check payable to Voice & Vision to help offset the costs of circulating scripts among readers.

THE RENAISSANCE GUILD'S ACTONE SERIES Deadline: 2-10-2006 The Renaissance Guild is San Antonio's Premiere Black Theatre Company We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the examination, preservation, and celebration of the Black experience through theatre; providing educational outreach programs to the San Antonio community and surrounding areas, and providing opportunities for artistic expression to people of color.
We Want Your Words! The Renaissance Guild will be taking script submissions for its new play festival, the ActOne Series Vol. VII, to be presented May 12-13, 2006. The AOS was developed to provide a venue and a voice to writers. Once the pieces are selected, playwrights will have the opportunity to work with a dramaturg to hone their script before it goes into production, and to observe some of the rehearsals. The process culminates in two evenings of performances, when the writers get the opportunity to see their works come to life, local actors show their stuff on stage and the San Antonio community gets the opportunity to celebrate the work of their neighbors, friends and promising new theatre voices.
Guidelines: We are looking for unpublished works that have not been previously performed in the Southwest Region, 5 to 30 minutes in length (can be an excerpt from a longer piece), with a maximum of 6 characters, and little or no technical requirements. -- TEATRO LA TEA and CAICEDO PRODUCTIONS present THE ONE FESTIVAL Deadline: 2-10-2006 TEATRO LA TEA and CAICEDO PRODUCTIONS are currently accepting submissions for the 1st Annual The ONE Festival. This new exciting festival will begin in April 2006 for a charming spring Month.
The ONE Festival will have a two-week theatrical run From April 10-23, with multi-talented Playwrights and Performing Artists from all over the world. This 1st annual event will showcase theatrical works from men and women of solo performances.
The ONE Festival, will accept 10 original non-published theatrical works; full-length and Shorts. Each work will perform three times during the festival. One of the theatrical works produced by the festival will receive a $500 dollar cash prize, plus a full theatrical production at TEATRO LA TEA, at The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center in NYC's Lower East Side. The best play chosen will be judged by the audience. The audience gets to vote for their favorite play. The Play will need to receive a total amount of 75 votes or more to be categorized for the finalists and cash prize.

-- ARTSCAPE presents THE GIBRALTAR POINT INTERNATIONAL ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM Deadline: 2-10-2006 Artscape is currently accepting applications for the seventh term of the Gibraltar Point International Artist Residency Program, taking place May 19th – June 17th, 2006.
The Gibraltar Point Residency transcends political, aesthetic and geographic boundaries, welcomes diversity and provides a spawning ground for unique cultural alliances. The program is open to Canadian and international artists who are engaged in the research, development or creation of work. Emerging, mid-career and established professional artists are invited to apply. Participants in the residency program receive accommodation, a private work studio and all meals at no cost. Travel and material costs are the responsibility of participating artists.
The residency program aims to further the professional development of artists by: enabling the creation and production of new work; fostering an exchange of ideas and influences; encouraging the sharing of expertise; inspiring new works of art and creative collaborations; and building relationships between artists working in different media. The program is designed and managed by Artscape and takes place for a single 30-day term each calendar year at the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts on Toronto Island.
ABOUT GIBRALTAR POINT CENTRE FOR THE ARTS & TORONTO ISLAND Situated on the south-western beachfront of Toronto Island, The Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts owes its name to its location marked by Toronto's oldest landmark - the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, which was erected in 1808. Operated by Artscape, this 30,000 square foot unique facility provides permanent studio space to more than a dozen artists and a Retreat Centre, which can be rented for a variety of functions. In addition to hosting the Residency Program, the Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts features Artscape Lodge; a short- term rental service with accommodation and work studios for up to 13 visiting artists.
Toronto Island is a peaceful 230-hectare natural park in Toronto's harbour, a short 15-minute ferry ride from the thriving downtown core of Canada's cultural capital. The Island is part of the Carolinian Zone which includes flora and fauna not found anywhere else in Canada. Naturalized areas and wildlife reserves make it a popular stopover point for southern song birds. The Island is also home to approximately 800 individuals whose remarkable community boasts one of the highest per capita populations of artists in Canada and is the largest urban car-free community in North America.

-- BOSTON THEATRE WORKS' BTW UNBOUND 2006 Deadline: 2-14-2006 BTW is a professional not-for-profit theatre company currently in our 8th season. We are committed to developing and staging new plays and introducing emerging playwrights to Boston. Our the past seven years we have commissioned new plays, produced world and area premieres and worked on projects with many renowned playwrights including Emily Mann, Joyce Carol Oates, Jamie Pachino, Tracy Letts, Kyle Jarrow and John Kuntz.
Since our first season, BTW Unbound has been an incubator for script development. We select 3-6 scripts to produce in workshop form with professional actors and directors. The top three selections will receive cash prizes, including a grand prize of $500 and two second- place prizes of $250 each.
The ideal BTW Unbound script is unfinished, but experiments with form and function, tells its story in an innovative way and pushes the boundaries of traditional narrative. It must align with our core mission: unbound by convention; driven towards discovery; engaging new audiences.
In our mainstage season, Boston Theatre Works is producing plays that explore the nature of love, the consequences of defining ourselves by who we love, and how we can be destroyed when that love is doubted or denied. -- new THE FRANCESCA PRIMUS PRIZE Deadline: 2-15-2006 Purpose: To honor outstanding contributions to the American theater by an emerging female artist.
The prize: $10,000, administered by the American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) through the generosity of the Francesca Ronnie Primus Foundation. The prize is named for the writer, critic and dramaturg who died of lung cancer in 1992 at the age of 42.
Eligibility: The Primus Prize has historically been awarded to an outstanding female playwright recognizing a single script. While the award committee retains an interest in honoring achievement in the writing of plays, it will also actively consider female artists whose work is outstanding in other theatrical disciplines, including artistic direction, stage direction, acting, design, production and dramaturgy.
The award generally will seek to honor women of significant achievement who have not yet attained national prominence.
Award cycle: The Primus Prize will be awarded based on the body of work of an artist over the course of a calendar year (January- December). To qualify for consideration, a playwright must have a fully staged, professional production of her script within that time period. For artists in other disciplines, the committee will consider either the achievements in a single production or a body of work, with special attention given to artists who have been involved in a noteworthy project or production.
Who may submit: The Primus Prize operates on an open submission basis. All candidates are welcome and encouraged.
How to submit: Submissions are due by February 15, in the form of a portfolio of no more than 20 single-sided pages. The portfolio should include a letter recommending the candidate written by a sponsor, a synopsis of her body of work over the course of the year and materials sufficient to familiarize the committee with the applicant's work. This can include renderings, reviews, a statement of the artist's philosophy and/or other supporting materials. Portfolios of playwright candidates should also include a copy of the script on which the nomination is based. Portfolios will not be returned.

-- COLLABORACTION SKETCHBOOK FESTIVAL, SEPTEMBER 2006 Deadline: 2-15-2006 Sketchbook is a celebration of the artist's sketching mind, a bazaar where artists and audiences share their discoveries. The Festival is also a sketch itself – of the way artists and patrons come together to form an artistic community.
Sketchbook is part math and part art. Over the course of 13 nights, more than 180 artists – actors, directors, writers, designers, musicians and visual artists – work together to create an experience that transports the participants and audience into a mood, a state of mind.
Each evening, Sketchbook presents a selection of about half of the 15-20 world premiere plays of 6 minutes or less. Before, between and after the plays, DJs create a sonic environment that influences and expands the overall artistry of the Festival. Throughout the space, contemporary visual art is installed and exhibited in dialogue with the mood and spirit of the constituent plays, music and art direction.

-- JANE CHAMBERS PLAYWRITING AWARD Deadline: 2-15-2005 The Women and Theatre Program of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education With Scott Family Chair in Drama, University of Texas at Austin, Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, Northwestern University Division of Theatre, Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University announce the Jane Chambers Playwriting Award.
We seek plays and performance texts created by women which reflect a feminist perspective and contain significant opportunities for women performers. We encourage submissions by and about women from a diversity of positions in respect to race, class, sexual preference, physical ability, age, and geographical region. We strongly encourage experimentation with the dramatic form. Scripts may be produced or unproduced. There is no limitation on length, style, or subject. Playwrights may be from any country.
This is an annual award, given in the memory of the late, lesbian playwright Jane Chambers who became a major feminist voice in American theatre through her plays "A Late Snow," "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove," "My Blue Heaven," "Kudzu," and "The Quintessential Image."
The award consists of $1000, free registration to attend the conference of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education in late July, hotel and travel costs, and a rehearsed reading of the winning piece at the ATHE conference. The winner should be available to attend the conference. Undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled who submit plays will be entered into the student category of the competition; the prize is $250 award and a reading at the Women and Theatre pre-conference in late July (no travel and hotel fees are included). In addition, the award recognizes a first runner- up, finalists, and honorable mention winners.
Only one entry per playwright annually. Submissions must include two copies of the play (typed or printed), application form, resume, and synopsis. A SASPC may be included for acknowledgement of the script's arrival is desired. A letter of endorsement from a theatre professional may be included, from someone familiar with the work which will only be used for publicity purposes. No translations. Scripts will not be returned, but recycled.

-- Jacksonville State University presents The Southern Playwrights Competition Deadline: 2-15-2006 The Southern Playwrights Competition seeks to identify and encourage the best of Southern playwriting. An Annual award of $1000 will be presented to the first-prize winner, as well as a production by the Jacksonville State University Department of Drama. Southern Playwrights Competition reserves the right to use the name of the play and the author's name in all publicity and promotions.
In the event of any subsequent production or publication of the winning manuscript (or versions thereof), and as one of the stipulations of the award, the author agrees to indicate in a footnote or in the playbill that the script was named winner of the Southern Playwrights Competition for 2006, and if applicable, that the play was produced at Jacksonville State University.
Rules The Competiton cannot receive faxed or electronically submitted plays. Playwrights must be native to or resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or West Virginia.
Plays must deal with the Southern experience.
Entries must be original, full-length plays. No musicals or adaptations will be accepted. The playwright may submit only one play. All entries must be typed, securely bound, and clearly identified. Synopsis of script must be included. Legal clearance of all materials not in the public domain will be the responsibility of the playwright. Submission is restricted to plays that have not had previous Equity productions. Plays that have had workshops, readings, or showcase productions are eligible. The Southern Playwrights Competition reserves the right to accept or reject any play submitted. SPC reserves the right to declare no winner. Decisions of the judges are final.
Each script must be accompanied by a SASE and an official entry blank or a copy of such. If the script it is to be returned, it must be accompanied by an appropriate envelope and return postage. Entries must be received no later than February 15, 2006.
In the event that, for any reason, the winning script cannot be produced, SPC shall only be held responsible for the playwright's award of $1000.

-- BASH! (BAY AREA SHORTS) Deadline: 2-15-2006 Starting September 15, 2005 Playwrights Foundation is accepting submissions for Bay Area Shorts (BASH!). As a special event of the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, four local writers are invited to present 20 minutes of unproduced material in staged reading format.
Each piece will have 3 hours of rehearsal with actors and director and be presented as part of a joint program at the Festival. Submissions must be postmarked by February 15th, 2006 and will be evaluated by our Selection Committee. Final selections will be made at the end of May. Writers will receive a small stipend and a festival pass.
Guidelines: 20-minute plays only - whether as short plays or excerpts from longer plays. ONLY ONE SUBMISSION PER PLAYWRIGHT WILL BE ACCEPTED. -- MIDTOWN INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL, July 21-Aug. 6, 2006 Deadline: 2-20-2006 Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) is now actively soliciting submissions for their upcoming seventh edition (MITF7), -- drama, comedy, one-person works, performance art, dance, and full- fledged musical productions . This year's festival is scheduled to begin Monday, July 17, 2007 and run for 21 days, finishing on Sunday August 6th. (Though extensions of some shows are always a possibility - as in years past.)
Anyone interested in submitting a script, as well as any other production materials (video, audiotapes, etc.) must first download an MITF application form at www.midtownfestival.org. (When you get to the website, click on "Apply.") -- THE BLOOMINGTON PLAYWRIGHTS PROJECT'S LATINO SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL Deadline: 2-25-2006 The Bloomington Playwrights Project announces its Latino Short Play Festival. Seeking new or existing one-act plays by Latino writers that deal with the festival's theme of “borders.” A theme that can include: geographical, psychological, familial, socio-economic, cultural and/or related borders.
Each entry should be in English, standard playwriting format, have a simple set and minimal props, 2-8 characters and be 15-45 minutes long. Four plays will be chosen and will be given a full production for a three-weekend run. The playwrights of the chosen plays will receive a stipend of $275.00 partially funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. Please, no e-mail submissions.

-- TWO CHAIRS THEATER COMPANY Deadline: 2-28-2006 Two Chairs Theater Company was created to promote new voices in the theater and bring new experiences to audiences in the Grand Valley by producing original scripts and existing works of merit with an emphasis on providing a theatrical venue for Colorado playwrights.
Two Chairs Theater was formed in the fall of 2002 by Joseph Wilcox and James Garland. We have produced original works such as I Will Not Stoop To Stoop On Your Stoop Again! by Joseph Wilcox, and Deus Ex Quanta by E.F. Doucette. We joined with our local Hospice organization to produce Wit by Margaret Edson for National Hospice Month, and gave a portion of the proceeds to the organization. We started an annual "Support Your Local Playwrights" festival that takes place in the spring. This is a venue to bring out new plays by local artists, but also includes other playwrights from around the world.
We are always looking for new plays to produce, and are not picky on subject, just quality!

-- THE CARDIFF INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF MUSICAL THEATRE DEADLINE: 2-28-2006 The Search is looking for new musicals to present to an audience of the general public and professional theatre practitioners during the Cardiff International Festival of Musical Theatre, to be held in Wales in October 2006.
All musicals will be judged by a panel of Britain's leading Musical Theatre Professionals. Judging will take place in three rounds: In Round One, five songs and a synopsis will be judged. In Round Two, the full libretto and score will be judged. In Round Three, the full score and libretto will go before the Grand Jury to determine which shows will be chosen to be showcased in the Global Search at the 2005 Festival.
Entries are invited from all countries and at all levels, from first time writers to established professionals.
The chosen musicals will be presented in a 45 min showcases by professional actors and with a professional production team. Each showcase will be presented twice during a three day programme.
The Search is conducted anonymously, we are not influenced by geographical location or creator's background.

-- MOUNTAIN PLAYHOUSE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY PLAYWRITING CONTEST Deadline: 2-28-2006 So encouraged by the outstanding response to the contest, The Gristmill Productions Board of Directors has voted to make the Mountain Playhouse International Comedy Playwriting Contest an annual event! The next submission deadline has been moved up to February 28th, 2006 with the award presented in September 2006.
The prize for the winning play is $3,000 and a public reading of the play before the end of 2006 at The Mountain Playhouse. In addition, Gristmill Productions will consider presenting a live stage production of the play during 2006 or 2007.
The rules for the contest are as follows: • No re-submissions of plays previously submitted unless revised 70% or more. • Must be a World Premiere • Cannot be produced before 2007 • MUST have EIGHT actors or less • Must be a comedy

-- march 2006 new The UCROSS FOUNDATION'S RESIDENCY PROGRAM Deadline: 3-1-2006 The Residency Program provides living accommodations, individual work space and uninterrupted time to selected artists and writers: painters, poets, fiction and nonfiction writers, composers, sculptors, photographers, playwrights, and those working in the natural sciences and interdisciplinary forms. Residents are chosen by a rotating panel of professionals in the arts and humanities. The quality of an applicant´s work is given primary consideration in the review process.
Applicants from around the U.S. and the world are invited to work on individual or collaborative projects for two to eight weeks at the confluence of Piney, Clear and Coal Creeks.
The Foundation´s residency facilities can accommodate four writers and four studio artists at one time. Studios are located in the Kocur Writers´ Retreat along the bank of Clear Creek, the remodeled Clearmont Depot, and the complex of Rock Studios along Piney Creek.
There is a composer´s cabin, Jesse´s Hideout, which can accommodate one composer at a time. Our oldest buildings are the Big Red Barn, circa 1880, which houses an art gallery, conference space, and the Conservation Program office, and the Big Red Ranch House which houses administrative offices.
Approximately 60 Residents are chosen each year in a highly competitive application process. Artists and writers from all stages of their professional careers are invited to apply. Postmark deadlines for completed applications are October 1 for the springs session (early February-early June) and March 1 for the fall session (early August-early December).
While there is no charge for a Residency, the Ucross Foundation depends on public interest, generosity and support in order to continue to provide an optimum retreat environment. We are grateful to the many supporters who have given their time and resources.

-- GREAT AMERICAN HISTORY THEATRE SEEKS HOLIDAY MATERIAL for 2006 Deadline: 3-1-2006 The Great American History Theatre is embarking on a new HOLIDAY show for 2006! Thus, we're collecting submissions of short plays, monologues, sketches and songs (3 - 10 minutes) in length to be played by a small ensemble of actors/singers. The evening will be a combination of theater, stand-up, and concert (as we are in negotiations with a local band - tba).
So, please submit your holiday story. To reflect our mission, REAL STORIES, REAL PEOPLE, we are NOT looking for fiction. Comic, ironic, serious, stories of all faiths or none at all - that's certainly OK, too. As long as it's real.

-- SHUBERT FENDRICH MEMORIAL PLAYWRITING CONTEST Deadline: 3-1-2006 Shubert Fendrich, the founder of PIONEER DRAMA SERVICE, passed away in December of 1989. In tribute to him, the Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Contest is held annually to encourage the development of quality theatrical material for educational and community theatres.
CONTEST GUIDELINES Individuals currently published by Pioneer Drama Service are not eligible for this contest. Pioneer Drama Service employees and their families are also excluded. Entries must be postmarked by March 1. Manuscripts received with a later postmark will be considered for the following year's contest.
All plays accepted for publication will be considered contest finalists. The contest winner will receive a $1,000 royalty advance in addition to publication. The winner will be announced June 1.

-- BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS' OFFICE OF CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES/ARTS is now accepting submissions for: THE DRAMATIC DEVELOPMENTS SHORT PLAY AWARD Deadline: 3-1-2006 Dramatic Developments is a U.S. Department of Education Research and Dissemination Grant implemented in the Boston Public Schools. We invite playwrights to submit original short plays that address present-day issues facing Boston 's middle school students. Three scripts will be selected for use in classroom and after-school student performances. The playwrights of each of the 3 selected scripts will receive a $2000.00 prize, which will be presented in April, 2006.
The goal of Dramatic Developments, a grant-program through the Boston Public Schools' Arts office, is to improve literacy by incorporating theatre instruction and performance in the language arts classroom. This year, the program will reach students in 5 middle schools.
Submission Rules: 1. Plays should be 20 minutes to 30 minutes in performance length. 2. Scripts must be relevant to middle school students and appropriate for classroom use and performances for 6 th , 7 th and 8 th graders (approximate ages: 11-14). For more information on classroom- appropriate materials, see the Student Code of Conduct for the Boston Public Schools at http://boston.k12.ma.us/info/policyhandbk.pdf on pages 39-41. 3. Sets and lighting cues must be minimal. 4. Playwrights must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. 5. Scripts must not be under option for publication through any other contests. 8. Playwright agrees that the Boston Public Schools may use the script indefinitely for any in- and out-of-school student performances without paying royalties should the script be published following the contest. 9. Playwright agrees to acknowledge the script as a winner of the Boston Public Schools' Dramatic Developments Short Play Award in any subsequent productions and/or publications of the script. 10. For any directly quoted/referenced work, the playwright must include copyright information with submission, including written permission from the original publisher. 11. All scripts must be typed, following the standard play manuscript format. 12. Playwrights may submit more than one script; all entries will be judged separately. 13. Scripts may be submitted by a group or collaborative team. All collaborating members must be identified on the cover-page. 14. -- THEATRE LIMINA'S SUMMER SHORTS: DOUBLE VISION Deadline: 3-13-2006 Theatre Limina is now accepting submissions for our annual “Summer Shorts” festival to be performed at the Bryant Lake Bowl Cabaret Theatre in Minneapolis, MN in June 2006. This is the third year of this festival, which emphasizes giving a voice to emerging playwrights and directors. Theatre Limina's Artistic Committee will review all submissions; selected scripts will be paired with a director and given a blackbox performance at the Bryant Lake Bowl. The selections of the committee are final.
The theme for this year is “Summer Shorts: Double Vision.” Each selected script be given to two directors, and will receive two separate, autonomous productions, performed back-to-back on the same night. As with past years of “Summer Shorts,” audience members provide written feedback for each production and vote for their choice each week to receive a second performance as part of the “ encore night” at the end of the month. The general intent of the “Double Vision” theme is to provide twice as much feedback for playwrights while encouraging directors to pursue unique interpretations of the scripts. With this theme in mind, the selection committee will be particularly interested in scripts with room for interpretation and playwrights who are open-minded to seeing their work realized in a creative manner.

-- BACKDOOR THEATRE'S NEW PLAY PROJECT Deadline: 3-15-2006 Backdoor Theatre's New Play project, established in 1985, exists to cultivate playwrights and to showcase new theatre. In a workshop environment, selected plays are mounted with full production value and receive at least six performances in Backdoor's 170 seat Mainstage theatre. Submitted plays are processed through a play- reading panel, and selection is made in collaboration with the theatre's professional staff. The selected play is cast from the community theatre talent pool and rehearses for five weeks. Each selected script is considered a “work in progress” and every practical effort is made to achieve a collaborative state among cast, crew, director, producer and playwright.
Objectives of the Project The intentions of the New Play Project are to encourage playwrights and to nurture fresh new theatre; to offer our audience an exciting, never-before-seen theatre experience; and to provide to our local artists a chance to expand their talents through new viewpoints and fresh ideas.
Submission Requirements A. The script should be standard size, typed and securely bound. B. A brief synopsis of the play. C. A one page resume of the playwright. D. SASE for script. (If you want it returned.) E. SAS postcard for receipt acknowledgment. Plays must be full-length. One-act plays or collections are not eligible. Musicals and Children's plays are not eligible. Scripts having received a professional production are not eligible. Scripts having received a workshop, staged reading, or non-professional production are eligible. The selected play will receive a $500.00 honorarium.
