HERRING RUN THEATER ARTFEST
Call to WRITERS + DIRECTORS

The Herring Run ArtsFest is a free to the public festival of arts
such as theater, film and music. The ArtFest was formed to vitalize
the regional creative community, and to foster new relationships
among artists. We cultivate fresh voices, and innovative ideas. We
especially encourage those residing in the Northeast USA to submit.

Each September, Herring Run Theater ArtsFest presents its celebration
of one-act plays. The theater program is the largest branch of the
festival. The theater program runs Friday and Saturday, presenting
the winning 6 one-act plays each evening. We hire approximately 8-12
directors. Participants are unpaid, however, there is much
opportunity for making contacts and exposure.

Directors will begin their pre-production by late spring (march/
april). Directors may have previous directing experience, but it is
not necessary. However, your resume must show creative potential.

Writers, each play submitted must be original (not more than two
plays, please), and not previously performed. 12 one-act plays no
more than 12 pages in length for 2006 will be chosen.

PLASE MAKE YOUR SUBMISSIONS BY TRADITIONAL SNAIL MAIL! When final
scripts are chosen, we will ask you to send an e-copy. Please send
one copy of your script to:

Ross Chartoff, Rock Street, Middleboro, MA 02346.

To be selected, you must be reachable by both phone and email. Please
send your contact information, even if you use an agent.

Judging is completely anonymous.

Submit resumes and scripts by February 15, 2006.

The prize: $10,000, administered by the American Theatre Critics
Association (ATCA) through the generosity of the Francesca Ronnie
Primus Foundation. The prize is named for the writer, critic and
dramaturg who died of lung cancer in 1992 at the age of 42.

Eligibility: The Primus Prize has historically been awarded to an
outstanding female playwright recognizing a single script. While the
award committee retains an interest in honoring achievement in the
writing of plays, it will also actively consider female artists whose
work is outstanding in other theatrical disciplines, including
artistic direction, stage direction, acting, design, production and
dramaturgy.

The award generally will seek to honor women of significant
achievement who have not yet attained national prominence.

work of an artist over the course of a calendar year (January-
December). To qualify for consideration, a playwright must have a
fully staged, professional production of her script within that time
period. For artists in other disciplines, the committee will consider
either the achievements in a single production or a body of work,
with special attention given to artists who have been involved in a
noteworthy project or production.

Who may submit: The Primus Prize operates on an open submission
basis. All candidates are welcome and encouraged.

How to submit: Submissions are due by February 15, in the form of a
portfolio of no more than 20 single-sided pages. The portfolio should
include a letter recommending the candidate written by a sponsor, a
synopsis of her body of work over the course of the year and
materials sufficient to familiarize the committee with the
applicant's work. This can include renderings, reviews, a statement
of the artist's philosophy and/or other supporting materials.
Portfolios of playwright candidates should also include a copy of the
script on which the nomination is based. Portfolios will not be
returned.

Six copies of an applicant's portfolio – along with an application
fee of $25 (checks payable to ATCA) should be sent to: ATCA, c/o

COLLABORACTION SKETCHBOOK FESTIVAL, SEPTEMBER 2006
Deadline: 2-15-2006
Sketchbook is a celebration of the artist's sketching mind, a bazaar
where artists and audiences share their discoveries. The Festival is
also a sketch itself – of the way artists and patrons come together
to form an artistic community.

Sketchbook is part math and part art. Over the course of 13 nights,
more than 180 artists – actors, directors, writers, designers,
musicians and visual artists – work together to create an experience
that transports the participants and audience into a mood, a state of
mind.

Each evening, Sketchbook presents a selection of about half of the
15-20 world premiere plays of 6 minutes or less. Before, between and
after the plays, DJs create a sonic environment that influences and
expands the overall artistry of the Festival. Throughout the space,
contemporary visual art is installed and exhibited in dialogue with
the mood and spirit of the constituent plays, music and art direction.

Two Chairs Theater Company was created to promote new voices in the
theater and bring new experiences to audiences in the Grand Valley by
producing original scripts and existing works of merit with an
emphasis on providing a theatrical venue for Colorado playwrights.

Deadline: 3-13-2006
Theatre Limina is now accepting submissions for our annual “Summer
Shorts” festival to be performed at the Bryant Lake Bowl Cabaret
Theatre in Minneapolis, MN in June 2006. This is the third year of
this festival, which emphasizes giving a voice to emerging
playwrights and directors. Theatre Limina's Artistic Committee will
review all submissions; selected scripts will be paired with a
director and given a blackbox performance at the Bryant Lake Bowl.
The selections of the committee are final.

The theme for this year is “Summer Shorts: Double Vision.” Each
selected script be given to two directors, and will receive two
separate, autonomous productions, performed back-to-back on the same

provide written feedback for each production and vote for their
choice each week to receive a second performance as part of the “
