STONEHAM THEATRE 2006-2007 SEASON ANNOUNCED

Just Announced! - 2006-2007 Season at Stoneham Theatre.

ANNOUNCING THE 2006- 2007 Stoneham Theatre Season

Cole Porter's You Never Know
September 14 - October 1
"So take my advice and reserve two tickets to Paradise, for you never know".
Join us for a deliciously stylish and romantic evening of seduction in this lighthearted musical comedy featuring the incomparably witty lyrics and unforgettable music of Cole Porter.  The romance does not run smoothly, however, as a delightful upstairs/downstairs case of mistaken identities causes complications for a Baron and his trusty servant as they perfect art of seduction.

Around the World in 80 Days
October 19 - November 5
Mark Brown's delightfully comic adaptation of Jules Verne's 1872 classic is a madcap romp around the globe as stodgy Phileas Fogg and his trusty servant Passepertout set out to prove (and win a sizable wager by doing so) that they can travel around the world and back to London in only 80 days. Will he make it in the face of the countless unforeseen obstacles he encounters in the exotic and foreign lands he passes through?  Or will Detective Fixx, hot on his trail, and convinced that he is a wanted bank robber, stop him from achieving his goal?

Guys on Ice
January 11 - 28
The 'ice fishing musical'.  What do guys do all day in those little huts sitting on frozen lakes? In this humorous look at the secret world of men on the ice, Marvin and Lloyd, best friends and homespun philosophers, spend a day (with occasional visits from Ernie the Moocher) swapping bad jokes and talking about life, love, the Green Bay Packers and, of course, one that got away.

The Grapes of Wrath
March 1 - 18
John Steinbeck's classic American novel about the great depression was stunningly adapted for the stage by Frank Galati for
Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater in 1990.  More than just the tale of the Joad family's trip from the dust bowls of Oklahoma to the 'promised land' of California, it tells the story of a nation trying to regain its innate goodness, selflessness, and generosity. Ultimately, Steinbeck's masterwork provides hope that America's soul was not lost forever in the brutality of the depression, so much as waiting to be found again.

To Be Announced
April 5 - 22
We are in final negotiations for the rights to this show and will be able to announce it soon.
** Please note, the first Sunday of the run is Easter Sunday so there will be no show that day.  First Sunday subscribers will be seated in the third Sunday for this show.

And Then There Were None
May 10 - 27
By Agatha Christie, author of The Mousetrap
Ten strangers are invited to an isolated island retreat off the coast of
England.  While the host is nowhere to be found, dead bodies soon are, as one by one the guests are murdered according to the words of a children's nursery rhyme.  With her trademark plot twists and false clues, Miss Christie leaves the best of the armchair (or theater seat) detectives baffled until the very end.

A Christmas Story (not included in subscription)
November 25 - December 23

Ralphie and his quest for the perfect Christmas present, the Old Man and his Leg Lamp will be back, although not as part of the subscription package.  But subscribers will have first chance to purchase tickets at a very special subscriber price.
