HARWICH JUNIOR THEATRE ANNOUNCES 2008 SEASON

THE GOOD DOCTOR Opening Thursday May 15 at 8PM and continuing Friday and Saturdays at 8PM Sundays at 4PM  thru June 1 with an added matinee on Saturday May 31 at 4PM. by Neil Simon based on Anton Chekhov’s hilarious stories. Directed by Albert T. Viola

ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE BACK AGAIN by POPULAR DEMAND!  JULY 4, 5, 18, 19, 25, 26, August 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 at 8 PM.  Written and originally directed by Ted Swindley.

The following summer HJT family shows open on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm. On following weeks we run on Monday thru Thursday eves at 7:30 PM. Friday and Sunday matinees at 4 PM.   The final Monday of each show is an ASL Interpreted performance!

MERLIN and the CAVE of DREAMS June 24 – July 10 by Charles Way.  “Can young king Arthur pull The Sword from the Stone? Long, long ago in an enchanted time, young Arthur crosses into Avalon in a magical golden boat and encounters ferocious giants and dragons.  Sure to delight every fan of Harry Potter!

THE LITTLE PRINCESS, SARA CREWE July 15 -31 Frances Hodgson Burnett’s adapted by Nancy Seale, with music by Melissa Sweeney. A sparkling new version of a classic Victorian story enhanced by laughter, song, and suspense.

HANSEL and GRETEL August 5 - 21 adapted by William Glennon.Directed by James P. Byrne. Gingerbread houses and Gumdrops! Join the adventures of Hansel and Gretel in this delightful adaptation of a classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale.

MACBETH  by William Shakespeare, Directed by James P. Byrne “Blood will have blood they say.”  Just you wait…!
September 19 – October 12

THE INVISIBLE MAN October 30– November 23 based on the classic by H.G. Wells, adapted by J Hagenbuckle , directed Nina Schuessler “Dare tobelieve what you don’t see!”

Slow Train Coming by Maureen Hourihan November 29 at 8 PM and 30 at 2 PM
A poignant and dramatic journey about a father with Alzheimer’s disease and the daughters who love him. This is benefit performance for Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, sponsored in part by Beacon Hospice, Inc.

MADELINE’S CHRISTMAS  December 12 -30 Musical, Books and lyrics by Jennifer Kirkeby, Music by Shirley Mier. Based on the book by Ludwig Bemelmans. Directed and Musical Direction by Robert Wilder and Choreographed by Suzette Hutchinson. “ In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines."

Harwich Junior Theatre (aka Harwich Winter Theatre) is Cape Cod’s premier family theater. Voted TOP THEATER on CAPE COD VIEW MAGAZINE’S TOP 200 list for 2006 and 2007!!! Live, high quality productions have made Harwich Junior Theatre and Harwich Winter Theatre widely respected for audiences of all ages.  HJT’s repertoire includes plays that will enchant the youngest child and plays that will guide adolescents in their transition to adulthood.  Harwich Junior Theatre produces fairytales, adventures, classical, musical and contemporary drama for children and family audiences.  Harwich Winter Theatre produces a more mature repertoire for young adults and adult audiences.
