ASP ANNOUNCES PLANS AND CHANGES FOR THE 2009/2010 SEASON
ASP Announces Plans and Changes for the 2009/2010 Season
Somerville, MA – The Actors’ Shakespeare Project announced today that after a five year founding phase, the company is undertaking a reorganization of its Artistic Management department. Artistic Director Benjamin Evett will assume the role of Resident Director, and will focus purely on artistic work, namely acting and directing. He will play Petruchio, opposite Sarah Newhouse who will play Kate, in ASP’s season opener, The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Melia Bensussen, running October 14-November 7, 2009. Evett will also direct A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a major partnership with Boston Arts Academy, running mid-winter, December 31, 2009-January 24, 2010.
ASP was founded by Evett in 2003 with a group of well-known Boston actors, and under his leadership, ASP has produced 19 productions, garnered local and national press coverage, and received several awards, including Elliot Norton awards for Evett, actor Allyn Burrows, and director David Gammons, The MCC Gold Star Award and others. ASP is enthusiastic about the continued artistic relationship with Evett and will begin a search for a new Artistic Director next season.
