How can I find out about StageSource and Boston theatre Events?

Subscribe to our General Information E-News! Unlike our other E-Newsletters, you don't have to be a member to find out about StageSource events and activities, as well as information of general interest to the theatre community. Simply go to the bottom of the home page, enter your email address under "Get the StageSource E-Newsletter", and click submit. Then complete the short form that appears.

How can I have my headshot and/or resume available to producers?

There are now two ways!

Online: Any individual member can create a profile to be included in our Online Resume and Headshot Database, including uploading your headshot or a production photo. Just login on the homepage and choose "Create Your Individual Profile."

Hard copy: We have a Talent Bank with members' headshots and/or resumes on file which producers use from time to time. Just send us one 8x10 picture and resume (stapled together securely!) or your production resume, and we will include it in our Talent Bank. If you participated in our last Annual Auditions we have a copy of your headshot on file, but you're always welcome to send us an updated one.

How can I help at StageSource?

As a non-profit, we couldn't survive if it weren't for our fabulous volunteers! We use volunteers in the office and at events. In the office we usually ask you to do something boring like filing or stuffing envelopes, but you can sit & gossip with us and find out a bit more about the theater community, and know that you are helping StageSource run. And besides, we let you pick the radio station: ) We welcome you in the office at any time! Just give us a call when you have an hour or two to kill and we'll have projects ready for you. We also often need volunteers at events, who help the event run smoothly; for instance, someone has to pass out headshots at the annual auditions.  We will announce when there is special need for volunteers in the E-News. If you are interested in finding out more about Volunteering at StageSource, please contact us!

Will StageSource get me work in film and commercials?

StageSource's E-Newsletters sometimes include a few announcements about this kind of work, but we are primarily focused on theatre. Most film and commercial work is done through the local casting directors, who are all listed in The Source!  Incidentally, no agent or casting director will "get you" work - they can submit you, but you have to win the work yourself!

Where can I find information on specific theaters in Greater Boston?

In The Source - the book or online! Our Links to Theatres also lists many theatres with links to their webpages.

Where can I submit my play for production, or find groups with whom I can workshop it?

The Source lists submission contacts for each theatre and has a section entitled Being a Playwright, which includes local networking and workshopping opportunities.  The E-News lists current Calls for Scripts locally and nationally.

What's the difference between union & non-union?

Many! Our Advice Articles include information about the many entertainment unions.

Where can I find theaters for rent, acting classes, acting coaches, headshot photographers, and other theater services?

Two places: First, for current announcements, look in our weekly E-Newsletters, which are distributed to members. Second, for more general info, look in The Source - either the book or online!

How can I advertise my show or company through StageSource?

You can announce an up-coming class or free ticket night through an E-News submission. Organization members may list shows on  The Stage Page, our printed calendar (email for more info), and may also post Press Nights on our online Calendar: simply login and click "Submit a Press Opening."  We also have several advertising opportunities in our various publications!

Where can I get/read scripts?
