Happy New Year from the New England New Play Alliance! We wish you a year filled with joy, creativity and, of course, new plays.
To kick off 2018, NPA and HowlRround will be co-hosting a Wikipedia Hackathon focusing on New England playwrights and New England theatre companies who produce and develop new plays. We will be bolstering the web presence of a short list of playwrights and companies by building Wikipedia pages for them, all in the course of one afternoon! Wikipedia entries are often the first results to appear during a Google search, so this will not only build an easily accessible and comprehensive guide to our playwrights/companies, it’s also a great way to support our local theatre community.
All you have to do is show up with a device you feel comfortable typing (extensively) on. We will provide the internet access, playwright/organization information, and snacks! Don’t worry if you don’t know how to build a Wikipedia page; it’s super easy, and there will be a brief tutorial on the day of the event.
The Hackathon will take place on Saturday, February 10, from 1-4pm. We will meet at the HowlRound offices on the second floor of the State Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116 (right above the City Place food court). The nearest T stops are Boylston on the Green line, Chinatown on the Orange line, and Park Street on the Red line. If you request one ahead of time, we can also offer $10 parking vouchers for the 660 Washington Street garage. We hope to see you there!
If you think you can make it, please RSVP to Livian Yeh, Hackathon Coordinator, at NPAProjects@stagesource.org.
