Great art requires honesty, challenge, and pushing ourselves to discover the truth. Those qualities are exactly what StageSource is bringing to LINE DRAWN, an initiative to prevent sexual abuse in performing arts. The Line Drawn Summit event will give you practical information about abuse prevention policies and procedures as well as the opportunity to be part of creating a vision for standards and ethics for the New England performing arts community.
The event will be lead and facilitated by IMPACT Boston, our partner in this work.
**The format of this summit will be very similar to one we held back in June. If you were unable to attend at that time, we hope you will join us now. If you attended in June, we invite you to stay tuned for news on the NEXT step in this process. The January 23rd summit is to engage more voices as we work toward a Community-Wide Code of Ethics.
The goal of this day-long convening is to examine existing Best Practices, data collected from our recent survey, and a myriad of other resources to iron out a Community-Wide Code of Ethics (for organizations and individuals) as well as to share standardized policies such as:
-Language for Board Policies on harassment
-Language for contracts and employee handbooks
-"First Day/First Rehearsal" language for organizations to present
-Suggestions for clear paths for reporting
While these components are only one piece of a larger puzzle, they are an important step which we are helping to implement on an ongoing basis. We understand that policies alone are not the silver bullet, so the day will also include sessions which will inform the development of future training programs which will more deeply engage with the community at large.
Please RSVP. Accurate head count is also needed to ensure that we have enough food for lunch, which will be provided free of charge.
Thank you for working with StageSource on this initiative. We're grateful for your help as we're moving this forward.
