Acting with Alexander Technique
StageSource is offering 2 Acting with Alexander classes this July on the 19th and 20th!
Acting with the Alexander Technique: A NEW Master Class with Betsy Polatin and Judy Braha
Alexander Technique has long been regarded as an integral part of acting training. The change in thinking and physical shifts are ideal for freeing the actor’s impulses, imagination, voice and body onstage. This enhanced awareness enables the actor to bring themselves to the character in the present moment. Teaching AT and Acting training in the same studio allows the actor to combine both skills and to illuminate a new freedom and path to creativity. Now, this dynamic duo is beginning to offer team-taught master classes to the professional theater community, using the forum of scene and/or monologue work to introduce a model of duel-consciousness. Students can hope to address any number of key challenges including:
*feeling stuck in your process as an actor
*perceived physical or vocal limitations
*difficulties connecting self with imagination, character and text
*lack of freedom on stage
*bringing your impulses to the moment to moment work of the actor
Prerequisites: professional actors only please.
If you missed last year’s class, now is your chance to take the level one class and then move on to even more advanced work in the second session. Class being at 6:00PM and end at 10:00 PM. Workshops will be held at 808 Commonwealth Ave. Boston, MA (B.U. West T Stop). The fee is $100 for StageSource members and $150 for Non-members.
