Our latest Member of the Week is Joey Frangieh! Joey (he/him/his) is a Lebanese-American director, designer, and producer. He is currently the artistic director of theBoston Theater Company.
He is the founder of the Artist Athletic Association - a wing of BTC which consists of artists and supporters of the arts who believe in teamwork, dedication, and commitment. The mission of the AAA is to promote health and wellness through physical activity while breaking down the stereotype that arts and athletics are separate - as well as competing in athletic events with as much (biodegradable) glitter as possible.
Joey is inspired by individuals who do things that showcase selflessness, strength, and resilience. His last project was Finish Line: A Documentary Play About the 2013 Boston Marathon. He has worked on Broadway several times, most recently as the assistant projection designer for The Children and projection programmer for Saint Joan; both shows were with Manhattan Theater Club. He has designed the Elliot Norton Awards three times.
Up next, he is directing a devised silent-action play titled MOVE YOUR FACE which will preview at the Boston Playwrights Theatre in March 2019, as well as a new Documentary Play to be announced in the upcoming months!
Joey loves cupcakes and lives for his queens: Britney and Beyonce.
