Alex Lonati

Alex Lonati (she/her/hers) is a local director, producer, and arts administrator who is most passionate about bringing accessibility to the arts. She is currently a part of administrative staff at SpeakEasy Stage Company as the Development Operations and Special Events Manager, designing and executing audience engagement and fundraising events, while also coordinating company development and stewardship efforts.

Alex has also been the Producer at Brown Box Theatre Project, a company that aims to make theatre accessible to all by breaking down financial and geographical barriers, for the past three and a half years. She is also on the board of the Theatre Community Benevolent Fund, which provides emergency relief to Boston artists, and is pursuing a Masters in Arts Administration at Boston University. She was named the Theatre Community Member of the Year by ArtsImpulse in May 2016.

Her nominator, Sloth Levine, believed Alex was an obvious candidate, "Have you met her? She's incredible. She's an absolute workhorse who does incredible stuff at SpeakEasy and Brown Box Theatre Project. She works tirelessly for the arts, and is a bright light for those that know her and is constantly looking to bring up her fellow artists with her."

Alex is a director by trade and, most recently, directed The Hotel Nepenthe at Brown Box in March 2018 and Hot Dog Christmas as part of The Boston Project at SpeakEasy Stage in June. She also writes, directs, and produces SpeakEasy's Fall Benefit performance each year, most recently titled The Pop-Up Prohibition Party. Alex will be returning to Brown Box to direct the World Premiere production of Don't Feed the Bear this March.
