Michael A. Rosegrant (Any Pronouns Said w/ Respect) is currently exploring “mixed medium performance by a mixed race performer”. They are an actor, dramaturg, writer, and spoken word artist who relies on myriad forms to tell stories of identity, family, and history.
Michael is a student at Boston University pursuing a BFA in Theatre Arts (Performance) with a concentration in Sociology and African American Studies. She is a founding member of Asian American Theatre Artists of Boston (AATAB), and recently joined the steering committee of the API Arts Network. Michael will produce/co-direct AATAB’s staged reading of Preston Choi’s new play, This Is Not A True Story, at the Pao Arts Center on April 8th at 7pm.
Also this spring: their new short play titled the poetry play—a piece blending mythology, spoken word, and live theatre—will be produced in a one-night-only showcase by Maarte Theatre Collective in San Diego, CA. Here in Boston, Michael will present their one-person show, Ang Unang Pinya at Kaalamang-Bayan (The First Pineapple and other Folktales), as part of BU School of Theatre’s 3rd Annual New Works Fest the week of March 18th; additionally, see them perform in the inaugural Arts Equity Summit in Boston on Friday, March 22nd. Until then, check out their writing on New Play Exchange.
