Charlotte Meehan (she/her/hers) Artistic Director of Boston-based multimedia theatre company Sleeping Weazel, is a playwright, producer, and curator who also collaborates on interdisciplinary art installations with sculptor Holly Laws and others. She conceived and arranged the company's currently running performance event, The Audacity: Women Speak, from stories of more than 30 women describing everything on the spectrum of sexism and misogyny — from gender bias to sexual assault.
With Managing Director Adara Meyers, Charlotte has produced about fifteen premieres in Boston over the past seven years, all of them addressing core aspects of Sleeping Weazel's mission to combine bold, experimental style with social justice ideals. Celebrating the ridiculous, the sublime, and the earth-shattering, the company's aim is to cross the boundaries of popular and high art, and to collaborate with artists of different generations and cultures, working in various genres.
Charlotte is now developing Everyday Life and Other Odds and Ends, a theatre/dance piece dealing with the sublime, the catastrophic, and the ridiculous as they pertain to family living with serious illness. Sleeping Weazel will premiere the piece in April 2021.
