Geena (they/them/theirs) is a producer, stage manager, writer, and community organizer whose work centers on queerness, inclusive storytelling, and community building. They are passionate about joy, the power of community, representation, and all things magic and just-a-bit-weird. They have a personal commitment to accessibility and inclusivity in the arts, and strive to work toward a goal of universal arts access.
Geena is currently the associate producer at Brown Box Theatre Project, a touring theatre company dedicated to breaking down the barriers that prevent people from experiencing live performance. You can catch BBTP’s next production, Measure For Measure, this August in and around Boston! Geena has also worked as a stage manager with Lyric Stage Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Off The Grid Theatre, Company One, Theater for the New City, Punchdrunk NYC/Emursive’s Sleep No More, and the international tour of Kultar’s Mime, among others.
Recently, they have been focusing on identifying how existing power structures work against the queer community, finding ways to uplift the voices of lgbtq+ artists by working both within and outside of those power structures, and using intentional creation to showcase their work to the greater Boston community. They are particularly interested in producing work written, created, and exclusively staffed by gender expansive artists. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in participating in (or would like to fund), slide into their DMs!
When they aren’t working, they’re putting together rad queer playlists and other media recommendations to promote lgbtq+ artists and keep their art visible all year long.
Geena is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, and holds a BFA from Hofstra University.
