Daniel Thomas Blackwell (he/him/his) is an actor, dialect coach, director, and aspiring circus artist. He co-ran The Underlings Theatre Co. for two years where he had the pleasure of reimagining classical work in contemporary contexts. His passion for Shakespeare and representation drives his interest in exploring how these texts change and what they can say to us when more voices are welcomed to the table.
Since finishing his work with The Underlings, he has shifted his focus to more intensive circus training in the Professional Preparatory Program at Esh Circus Arts. He is an aerial rope specialist, and he is currently fascinated by how much overlap can be found on the Venn diagram between theater and circus. Keep an eye out for Esh’s annual advanced studies show this summer for a chance to see him perform.
Daniel has also worked with Moonbox Productions, Theatre Uncorked, and Anthem Theatre Company. He’s in the process of dreaming up the next directing project he wants to tackle, but in the meantime, most of his acting work is for an appreciative audience of three as he does silly voices for his weekly game of dungeons and dragons.
