Francis Xavier NortonFrancis Xavier Norton (they/them/theirs) is a Latinx director, actor, musician/composer/Sound designer, visual artist, and educator. Insatiable curiosity, theatricality, abstraction, heritage, and imagination are the cornerstones of their artistic practices; not only probing WHAT stories they are telling, but HOW they are telling them. They strive to explore all that theatre can be, challenge what we think we know about art, and do away with the hierarchy of the artistic food chain.

They have recently been honored at the 2020 Elliot Norton Awards, where Apollinaire Theatre Company's production of The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart was the recipient of the Outstanding Ensemble award. They played multiple roles in the production. They have studied with Double Edge Theatre, The Moscow Art Theatre as one of eight american students, and Salem State University, where they were the recipient of a Special Recognition award, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in performance, and a finalist for the KCACTF SDC Fellowship in 2017.

Francis has proudly worked alongside Fresh Ink Theatre, SpeakEasy Stage Company, Arlekin Players Theatre, Actors' Shakespeare Project, Greater Boston Stage Company, Brown Box Theatre Project, Apollinaire Theatre Company, Boston Conservatory, MIT, amongst many others. They are also a founding member of The Ridiculous Project, a devised theatre/clown troupe.

You can find Francis directing a few upcoming virtual productions, such as an upcoming Sparkhaven Theatre project and Heart Broker for Playwright's Platform, Sound designing The Tempest for Queen Mab's fall production, and acting in Romeo and Juliet for The Hanover Theatre Rep, and Much Ado About Nothing for Brown Box Theatre Project...You can also find them creating obnoxious soundscapes in their bedroom for all the neighbors to hear, grinding video games, or botching many, many, many skill checks in the tabletop RPG Delta Green.
