Lorraine KanyikeLorraine Kanyike (she/her/hers) is an actor, playwright, and emerging director from Boston, MA! She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and African Studies, and her work– whether it be on the stage, on the page, or in the directors chair– heavily draws from her experience as a queer, first generation, Ugandan-American Black woman. Lorraine is currently an Artistic Fellow and Social Media Coordinator over at FTLO Theater and a Box Office Representative at ArtsEmerson; she has worked with several theatre groups in the Boston area and beyond as an actor, including The Front Porch Arts Collective, FTLO Theater, Hub Theatre Company, and Greater Boston Stage Company.

Her nominator thought she should be Member of the Week because "Lorraine is an intense and unparalleled actor, and she takes on each role with beauty and vigor. Along with her extensive resume of roles, she is also an amazing person and member of Boston's bustling theatre community."

Lorraine’s focus now post-graduation, and amidst a global pandemic and social uprising, is to decolonize theatre in any way she can and affirming and uplifting all Black voices, and that starts with writing her own work! You can see all of her past, present, and future projects on her website:

Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep fighting!
