Internships at StageSource

Apply today!

StageSource is a non-profit organization that has been serving thousands of individual theatre artists and hundreds of organizations for over 30 years.  Our office is located in Fort Point, and is T accessible. We share office space with three other service organizations: Arts & Business Council, MASSCreative, and MassPoetry.

Due to COVID-19, we are offering flexible internships that may take place in-person, remotely, or a combination of the two.

StageSource Internships are a wonderful opportunity for students to have high impact on the organization itself while exploring the Boston theater community.

We have three primary internships available, in administration/membership, programming, and marketing/communications. While general descriptions are given below, please note that we like to tailor our internships to each individual. We invite you to look through our mission, services, resources, and sector improvement initiatives to find what speaks to you and your goals. If you don't see something below that fits your interests, send us an application with an internship proposal!

  • ADMINISTRATION / MEMBERSHIP hands on experience with arts administration, including record keeping, web and database support of our membership, social media implementation, aid in the creation of institutional marketing materials, and support of overall operations. Works alongside our Membership Manager.

  • PROGRAMMING - creating and implementing programs that serve our membership, creating marketing plans for programming, social media implementation. Works alongside our Programs Director.
  • MARKETING / COMMUNICATIONS - Aid in the creation of institutional marketing materials, assist with marketing plans for programming, membership, and new initiatives, writing/editing materials, newsletters, and social media posts, IT/web support, social media implementation, exploration of new technology and social media platforms. Works alongside our Communications Associate.

  • PROJECT-BASED INTERNSHIPS - These internships are shorter, typically lasting around a month, and are focused around completing a project of the intern's creation. Some past projects have included: A guide of best practices for self-producing in Boston, creating and implementing a survey to collect demographic information of arts leaders in New England, and several projects focused on our sector improvement initiatives.

We would like at least a five hour a week commitment for non-credit internships. These opportunities are unpaid, but could be available for credit. Housing is not provided.
