A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR:
Hey y’all –
So, here’s where we are. It’s the end of the year and more significantly the end of the decade. I’m proud of the work done in this community to make a bigger table for all artists and I’m incredibly proud of StageSource’s part in it. My wish for the new year, a future of greater economic prosperity and opportunity for us all. I want us to create a vibrant New England theatre corridor where New England artists can work throughout the region making great art and influencing the national conversation. In 2020 the Source is going on the road to meet with artists and theatres across New England to see what’s viable.
Things we're doing to influence the sector:
If you believe in the work this organization has done to raise the level of excellence in Boston and New England theatre and you want to see increased opportunity for theatre makers, I ask that you give to our end of year campaign “The Next Ten Years”. The money supports programs like the “If I Knew Then Series”, “Actor’s Master Suite”, “The Line Drawn Initiative” and our upcoming “On The Rhode Tour”, but more importantly the money creates opportunity for artists, for big picture thinking, and for significant cultural change.
But don’t just take my word for it!
Stage Source has been and continues to be a hub for our theatrical landscape. It insists that and assists in companies of all sizes to become the ethical leaders we are called to be. A small yet mighty source of support, mentorship and innovation for advancing the New England theatre scene. - Summer L. Williams, Director
StageSource is a critical venture and resource in Boston… - Ellen Lauren, SITI Company
The most significant work that StageSource has done for me is in providing access to resources to advocate for transgender theatre artists in New England. StageSource strives to go beyond the basic step of “having the conversation” by providing programming and distributing resources, and importantly, they give communities a place to gather and a platform to speak for themselves. -- Marge Buckley, she/her/hers
It's an honor to serve this community. We are actively invested in sharpening your skills and making New England artists competitive locally and nationally. We’re raising the profile of New England theatre through our sector improvement work and employment opportunities! And we couldn’t do it without you! So thank you, thank you for your time, your expertise, your support.
Here’s to the next ten years! We’re doing the damn thing!
Dawn M. Simmons | she/her/hers
StageSource would not be what it is today without the vision, passion, and hard work of Jack Welch. The Jack Welch Fund was established to remember this amazing member of our community. The fund will be used for special events, added programming, and resource boosts that may be outside of our budget, but not our imagination. Click here to donate.

“We do not lack for energy or ideas. The StageSource board and staff are passionate and engaged in helping the theater sector. However, our ambition is hampered by our budget”
